In our continued efforts to proactively build the most safe and sustainable transportation community, we’re proud to share with you today’s news:

The Lyft platform now provides drivers with excess liability insurance up to $1,000,000 per occurrence.

This first-of-its-kind solution is designed to be 100% free for Lyft drivers, while offering passengers peace of mind.

  • The policy offers excess liability protection over a driver’s existing insurance while they are transporting Lyft passengers on a trip arranged through the Lyft platform.
  • Lyft drivers are required to maintain personal auto insurance per state law along with the other community requirements listed in Lyft’s Terms of Service.  

When we started Lyft a few months ago, we set out to break new ground for real-time ridesharing and are well on our way.  We appreciate everyone’s continued support in building a strong and lasting community.
